Staying Connected

We had our Spring 2010 Illinois Classis meeting yesterday, and as those who know who attended (in the great town of Pekin) I did not have much to report on in the area of the youth/education team.  I mentioned how our team was shrinking and encouraged the pastors to let me know of people who would be interested in helping out.  I also realize thought, that it is harder and harder for people to find time to meet together as a team to discuss ideas and dreams for our classis discipleship ministries and so I am posting on here today in an effort to get more discussion and participation to happen ‘virtually’.  I’ve tried to advertise our library resources which you find on this site, but I also think this site can be used to share news and ideas about each of our church’s ministries and hopefully give a little help and encouragement to those who are trying to lead groups in their church.

This all sound good on paper (or on the net as it may be) but if we don’t actually use the new tools like these to communicate we will just drift farther apart as a classis.  I’m not trying to force groups to work together on all kinds of projects and events but just provide a way to connect with others in similar situations.  If you have a question about youth ministry and would like some feedback it would be great to be able to put it on this website and get feedback from others in our denomination.

Thanks for reading and if you come upon this site from some other denomination, you are welcome to hang around too:)

Brad, thanks for trying to get something going here with this blog. I think I emailed you recently and indicated that I would be interested in joining the team. I look forward to learning new things, trying new things and being a support to others in our classis. When’s the next time you’re meeting?

    Joel
